Our neck goes straight down while looking at a smartphone, reading a book; But while working on the computer, because the eyes are fixed on the screen, our neck is forward towards the chin instead of going down.This position causes the 'paraspinal muscles', which are the 'deep muscles', to strain the neck muscles from being in the strained position for hours on end. As a result, complaints such as neck stiffness, neck pain, shoulder, back swelling, hand pain, tingling in the hand start.
One of the main causes of neck pain is sitting for long hours in one position. In Marathi, we call this to work hard! But then what can be done to prevent this neck pain?
- Light neck exercises should be done at the same place after every half-an-hour while working. Neck movement is very important.
- Turn the neck to the left, turn the chin towards the left shoulder and try to bring it in line with the shoulder. Hold for five breaths in this position; Do the same on the right side as well. Three repetitions of this movement of turning the neck should be done on both sides.
- Keep both hands behind the head on the office chair and lift the neck slowly. Press the back of the head on the hand with the help of both hands. Do this ten times.
- Keep both hands clasped together on the office table. Bend the forehead over it and press the forehead part on the head with the hand and loosen it. Do this ten times.
